Bio
Sofia Kayumova is a Russian born photographer and visual artist based in New York City. She grew up in Siberia and was a competitive rhythmic gymnast until she received a Master of Sports achievement in 2016.
After graduating high school, she relocated to New York and earned a degree in screen studies at The New School. She has worked as a Cinematographer and Camera Assistant on narrative and documentary films and directed a short film titled “In the Frame” (2022).
In 2024 she began working as a lab technician at the Contact Photo Lab in Bushwick and started her journey in photography. She is currently studying at the International Center of Photography and working on a long-term project about the workers of Diamond District titled “Before It Shines”.
